Open Stand Model (OSM) is a tree list modelling platform (Application Programming Interface [API]) for developing regionaly calibrated individual-tree stand development models. This is a collaborative open source project between FORUS Research and a number of public and private organizations in eastern North America.
An OSM Acadian Forest Region variant (OSM-ACD) has been calibrated by foresters and researchers at the Forest Planning and Stewardship Branch of the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development, Northern Hardwood Research Institute, University of Maine, and University of New Brunswick. Both the OSM API and Acadian Variant application have been bundled together as one package below.
In the download, see Help\OSM_Help.html for version history and important changes for this version.
No actual software installation is required at this time. OSM can be run from any folder on your computer; however, it is recommended you place it in a directory with no spaces. Do not run OSM directly from the zip file package; i.e., unzip it first!
By using this software, you agree to the license terms stated in the License.pdf file included in the downloadable zip file package below. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the software.

OSM Command files can be more easily viewed with Notepad++.
Open your OSM command file in Notepad++ and switch the editor language to Python to greatly improve visual display of commands, colored comments, foldable regions, etc. While the OSM command line was designed to look a bit like Python, it is not Python.
